Cannary

So last tuesday, the 13th, I went to the cannary to fill in for Dad and Nancy until they could get there. The session for canning jam started at 4 and they couldn't get there until 6:30ish becuase of work and the drive from Kanab so they asked me to fill in until they got there. I planned my schedule so I would be able to get there pretty close to 4 but of course I was sunning about 10 minutes late. I was in a hurry and of course all the lights were red on my way there but when I finally got to the Cannary, there was still a line to get in so I was ok. They had me sign in and then just looked at the next person to help them. So I folded to 2 people infron of me and made it to the back of the cannary. I stood there for a couple minutes then some people started taking the lids off the jars for the jam so I started helping them. We would put the ring in one of the bowls and the lid in another bowl and leave the jar in the box. Well, I figured that since we were all going to be stuck together for like 6 hours we might as well talk, but boy was I wrong. The lady I was sitting by was not happy the I was talking so i just did my work in silence. it was boring. I would throw the lids and the ring in opposite bowls to annoy that lady. Haha she would give me the dirtiest look. It was great. I eventually found the happy talkative people and stuck with then for the rest of the night. Our job was to take the jars of Jam out of the Vat, dry them off, tighten the lid, and give it to the people to put in boxes. Well, seeing how I was the youngest at that area I was nominated to get the jars from the bottom of the vat for everyone since their backs were all old and they were short too so they couldn't reach. After a while we had quite the system down. They told me I would be a good pearl diver because of how I would get the jars out. I didn't come back up, I just lifted the jars above my head for them to grab. We were there til a little after 9 but did 11 vats of jams which is a ton of jam. It was so good to be done.

The cannary was kinda fun and a good learning experience and I am glad I was able to go. I learned that the workers are not there to help you, that some people are very serious about their jam and talking and having fun while working just slow's down the process, that cannary is a form of slave labor, and that I would make a good pearl diver. What more could I have asked for?!?

Pearl Diving

Slave labor with a smile. :)

Look they finally came. How cute are they in their hairnets and aprons.

Las Vegas Trip . . . Lost?

So yesterday Jace and I had went to Vegas. A co-worker of his needed a computer cord so after delivering that we went and had some fun. We watched the water show at the Belagio which was awesome and were serenaded by a little black guy playing the harmonica. He played us Bryan Adams song I will be right here waiting for you. It was pretty good, but very random. After that we went to Caesars Palace. The bathrooms were funny in there. They had a crying area as i called it. There were tissues in the counter for you and mirrors and cute little chairs. So I of course had to sit down and pretend I was crying. Haha. We looked around for a little bit then decided to go to the Mirage which is right next door. Well, we followed their little signs that said to the Las Vegas Boulevard. And we found no exit. We got lost in there for about 15 min and then found a backdoor to get out so we went out. After walking around a parking lot for a little bit we hopped a fence to get back to the strip. We still don't know how people get in and out of that place. We did find a spiraled escalator though. It was so cool. We had to go in just so we could ride on it. On our way back to the car which was parked at the Bilagio we got lost. . . again. Those casino/Hotel things are not user friendly. We walked around in circles a couple times before we relized that we had been there before. Haha. We eventually found the car and made it home safely. Vegas was alot of fun except for trying to find something, then it was confussing.

Decades Dance

SO, Friday night Jace and Hansel decide we were going to the decades dance at the Institute. We were suppose to dress up so we made a trip to the DI. Wow, it was entertaining. We ended up deciding on the 60's era. Hansel's outfit was easy to find but me and Jace struggled for a bit til Hansel found my green bell bottoms and coral belt. After that my outfit was complete with the help of Jace findin my shoes and shirt. I was just there for moral support. Jace was the Hardest to find clothes for. So somehow we decided he should try on my pants and well . . . that was the end of DI. We did find him a woman's silk shirt, jacket, and shoes though. Make sure you look at his shoes. The dance was tons of fun and very entertaining. Apparently interpretive dancing is the new things haha.

Some kid i don't remember his name, Hansel as John Travolta, Zac as himself- lame, Jace as well we don't know what, Me as we don't know either.

Mini Golf and the Park

Staja and Colby invited me and Jace to go bowling with them, but due to the dang league's we went to glow in the dark mini golf. :) Jace kicked all our butts, but we still had fun. After that we went to the park and played for a little bit. It was freezing but worth it. It's good to be a kid.
